Scientific Coordination
Prof. Dr. Rajiv Jalan, scientific director of the European Foundation for the Study of Chronic Liver Failure (EF CLIF) in Barcelona, Spain, and professor of hepatology at University College London (UCL) spearheads and coordinates A-TANGO. Over the past 20 years, he has established himself as a leading expert in the field of liver failure and he is highly experienced in planning, conducting, and overseeing clinical trials, including the coordination of two other successful Horizon 2020 projects (ALIVER and CARBALIVE). The coordinator is responsible for the overall scientific progress of the project, the quality of the results, and the timely submission of all required documents and reports to the European Commission.
Supervision of the Clinical Study
Dr. Cornelius Engelmann, hepatologist and research group leader at Charité in Berlin, Germany, supervises the clinical trial of A-TANGO. His research about stem cell mobilisation in acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) generated promising results for granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and TAK-242, an antagonist of toll-like receptor 4. The A-TANGO project is based on this research.

Project Management
concentris carries out the non-scientific tasks of EU projects, and provides support and consultancy services for scientists and researchers at universities, businesses, and research institutes from the first project idea to the successful completion. As the core of the project management office (PMO), concentris is the central point of reference for the A-TANGO project. In addition, concentris leads WP7 (Dissemination, Communication, and Training) and organises the project’s General Assembly (GA) and Steering Committee (SC) Meetings.
